Most importantly looking for stamps to stick on postcards for some special people back home. Aren't you all but some don't do email or blogs.
We have been frustrated by the postal service here - it works for the locals as they know how it operates - we don't.
The larger post offices we have visited shut for lunch at 12.20 (advertised as 12.30) and reopen at whenever (not as advertised at 1.30). We haven't seen them reopen yet.
Village post offices close for the day at 11.45 but may not even open at all. We cannot work out when or what day they are open and haven't been able to buy any stamps yet. The local "tabacs" (cigarettes, postcards, lottery tickets, soft drinks, etc) sell stamps, but only for local France deliveries - certainly not Australie. This search continues.
Second on the search list has been the local village cheese maker - whose product comes highly recommended.
We found the dairy, known as La Ferme de Mont-Gay, without difficulty up above our village and the little retail sales counter from which they sell the produce from their cows. They also sell unpasteurised, unhomogenised milk and yogurts as well as the 6 fromages from day 1, week 1 through week 6 maturation periods. We could not decide which to buy so bought all 6 as well as a liter of milk and were given 2 yogurts as a first time customer reward. The cheese is great and they didn't really need to reward us to get us to return.
This search is concluded.
