We have been in France for some 36 hours now and have settled into our 16th Century hotel, La Gabetiere, in Estrablin about half way between Lyon and our eventual long term residence in Saint Albans de Varese. Visit its site at www.la-gabetiere.com. It's worth a look at the decor, history and our room only 75Euros per night.
Today we visited with the family whose house we will be in and had a delightful lunch and met a couple of the neighbours who will be helpful with local knowledge and directions.
We have already picked up some words, phrases and special greetings and everybody has been so kind and helpful. The kangaroo stick pins have worked a treat.
